Katie and I would like to welcome you to our third annual prospect steer and heifer sale. There might be a new sale name for 2011 but the cattle are still the same great calves we have offered the past two years. We are extremely excited about this years offering as we have steers sired by our go to guy Daines Sir Dr. Seuss 30T. Our new Maine Anjou bull Hall's Crossing 454W and a son of OCC Legend. Each sire has really stamped their sons this year and have provided a few different styles to choose from.
We are extremely proud of how our steers performed in the 2010/2011 season. All of the steers consistently tipped the scales over 1300 lbs. This years champions include: Carmen Biggellaar winning the East Lacombe Club Champion and the Lacombe and District Grand Champion Steer. Quinn Millar won Reserve Champion steer for the Blindman Beef Club. Quinn also won club rate of gain with her steer at 3.53 lbs per day. Tessa Nybo's steer gained 3.61 lbs a day and was reserve champion for club rate of gain. Tessa also had a successful season with her steer after the 4-H year winning a $1,000.00 scholarship for attending both the Summer Synergey and Calgary Stampede Shows with her steer.
A change to the sale this year is the absence of our heifer lots. We would like to sincerely thank everyone that has purchased heifers from our sale in the past. We have elected to grow our cow herd and are planning to retain all of our heifers for our herd this year.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the 24th.
If you have any questions about the cattle don't hesitate to phone.
